We are excited to welcome Alyssa Dykman and Sean Youra to the BayREN team as the Program Managers for the two new Public Programs! The Public Programs will launch later in 2024 and aim to support local governments and special districts as they work to improve energy performance and reduce greenhouse gas emissions of their public buildings. Alyssa will work on the Targeted Decarbonization Services Program, which will support decarbonization education and financing and host a Decarbonization Showcase. Sean will work on the Integrated Energy Services Program, overseeing Energy Concierge and Energy Roadmapping services to assist local government staff in comprehending and accessing funding programs that can support their energy and resilience goals.

Both Alyssa and Sean bring a wealth of experience in sustainability and decarbonization into their new roles.

About Alyssa

Alyssa has a background in environmental project management, local government operations, and stakeholder engagement. In her previous role as a Climate Action Project Manager at AECOM, Alyssa helped public sector agencies across the nation advance their climate action, resiliency, and decarbonization goals. She also served as the City of Piedmont's first Sustainability Program Manager, where she led the implementation of the City's Climate Action Plan and other related programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Alyssa is passionate about making a meaningful impact in advancing California's climate and energy goals. In her new role, she looks forward to collaborating and problem-solving with colleagues, partners, and regional stakeholders to address the diverse challenges that face Bay Area local governments when implementing decarbonization technologies and strategies.

Alyssa is originally from Connecticut but has called the Bay Area home for the past eight years. She is currently rooted in Oakland and loves its diversity of food, regional parks, and people!

About Sean

In his previous role, Sean was the first ever Climate Action Coordinator for the Towns of Fairfax and San Anselmo in Marin County. Sean led the implementation of each Town’s Climate Action Plan, helping to develop and implement policies, programs, and infrastructure projects covering both climate mitigation and adaptation. As a member of the Marin Climate & Energy Partnership, Sean played a key role in the development of countywide plans and policies such as the EV Acceleration Strategy, Green Building Model Reach Code, and Electrification Roadmap. In his new role, Sean hopes to create services that allow local governments to transform their public buildings into healthy, sustainable, and resilient buildings, which can serve as a model for local communities as well.

Sean is a resident of San Francisco's Presidio Heights district, and his favorite bakery is Arsicault. He is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys the Bay Area's diversity of people, cultures, food, ecosystems, and climate.

We are thrilled to have Alyssa and Sean on board and look forward to their contributions to the BayREN team.
