Business Upgrades: Thai Food Express
With labor and food costs soaring, even small overhead reductions can help restaurants stay afloat.
Meet Chatchai Phanphanit, the owner of the Thai Food Express. Located in the heart of downtown San Rafael, the family-run restaurant has been serving Northern Thai Cuisine since 1990.
Even though the restaurant was already efficient, Chatchai saw an opportunity to cut costs further by taking advantage of the services of BayREN Business. The Program provided incentives to cover the entire project cost of $1,700 to replace the old inefficient motor in his walk-in freezer.
“I was very satisfied with the services offered through BayREN Business. The Program saves you money and that’s a good thing!” said Phanphanit. Now, Thai Food Express will start saving an estimated $500 per year on its electricity bill, making the owner “very satisfied with the services offered.”
Project Benefits Breakdown
- $1,700 in BayREN rebates awarded to make the upgrades free of charge
- $500 in annual electricity savings for Thai Food Expres
