On January 16, 2019, BayREN's Bay Area Multifamily Building Enhancements Program (BAMBE) was recognized by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) with a prestigious Exemplary Program Award.

The BAMBE program, led by Alameda County's StopWaste and supported by the Association for Energy Affordability and San Francisco Department of Environment, focuses on energy efficiency retrofits and offers no-cost consulting and cash rebates for multifamily properties with five or more attached dwelling units. Since 2013, the program has helped upgrade over 31,000 units at 458 properties across the Bay Area, providing over $22.5 million in rebates.

Awards are presented only once every five years - this year, ACEEE, with the collaboration of an independent advisory panel, selected 53 models worthy of emulation.
