Remember to check with rebate providers to learn if the rebate you want is stackable with other programs. 

National

  • Federal Tax Credits: Homeowners can save up to 30% on energy efficient upgrades, up to $3,200 annually, on taxes. Upgrades include electrifying appliances, improving insulation, completing a home energy audit, or installing solar and battery systems. 
  • Solar Investment Tax Credit: Homeowners can save up to 30% of solar installation costs annually on taxes. 
  • Zonolite Attic Insulation Trust: Homeowners can receive up to 55% of eligible abatement costs for removing harmful, asbestos-containing Zonoline insulation. 

Statewide

  • TECH Clean California offers contractor-applied rebates for heat pump water heating and heat pump space heating/cooling. Check website for funding availability.   
  • Golden State Rebates: PG&E customers can use instant rebates for heat pump water heater, gas storage water heater, smart thermostat, and room air conditioner. 
  • California Energy-Smart Homes: Homeowners can receive incentives for whole-building electrification, including single family, duplex, townhome, ADU, or multifamily low-rise electrification alterations. Measures include heat pump space heating/cooling, heat pump water heating, induction cooking, electric/hp clothes dryer), heat pump dryer bonus, electric infrastructure upgrade bonus 
  • GoGreenFinancing connects PG&E customers with lenders to finance up to 100% of their energy upgrade costs, including for electric appliances, building envelope, clean energy, water heating, space heating/cooling, pool products, lighting, and electric vehicles. For the full list, see here.
  • PACE Home Improvement Financing provides loans to finance solar panels, windows and doors, HVAC, roofing and roof replacement, landscaping and turf, hurricane protection, and earthquake protection. 

Bay Area

  • PG&E: Eligible PG&E customers can apply for rebates for a generator and/or battery, pre-owned EV, and residential charging solutions.  
  • Bay Area SunShares: Available in the fall, homeowners can get discounts with pre-vetted solar and solar storage installers.   
  • Rising Sun Green House Calls: PG&E customers in select Bay Area counties can participate in Green House Calls, which offer direct installation of high-efficiency lighting, faucet aerators, and other tools. 
  • Home Intel: PG&E customers can participate in this energy saving program, at no cost. It includes a free Smart Audit account and a personal energy coach.

Alameda

  • Ava Community Energy: Ava customers can benefit from a contractor-applied $1,000 rebate for a heat pump water heater. 
  • City of Piedmont Electrification Rebate Program: Piedmont residents can apply for rebates for heat pump water heater, heat pump hvac, service panel upgrades. 
  • Alameda Municipal Power customers can apply for rebates for heat pump HVAC, heat pump water heater, smart thermostats, electric panel upgrade, energy management device, induction cooktop/ranges, electric clothes dryer, used electric vehicle, electric vehicle charger, electric bicycles, and income qualified solar. 
  • East Bay Municipal Utility District (EMBUD) customers can apply for rebates for lawn conversion, efficient irrigation, flowmeters, landscape design assistance, graywater systems, and receive mulch and compost coupons and water-saving devices at no cost. 

Contra Costa

Contra Costa Water District offers a variety of rebates, coupons, and devices to help you save water both indoors and outdoors. Measures include flume smart home water monitor, lawn to garden, smart irrigation controller, laundry to landscape greywater, and pool cover.

  • Marin Clean Energy (MCE)
    • MCE customers can get bill credits for solar storage and excess solar energy and income-qualified customers can receive a free home energy assessment and upgrades through their Home Energy Savings program.
    • Contractors can benefit from a $1,500 incentive for emergency heat pump water installations.

Marin

  • Marin Clean Energy (MCE)
    • MCE customers can get bill credits for solar storage and excess solar energy and income-qualified customers can receive a free home energy assessment and upgrades through their Home Energy Savings program.
    • Contractors can benefit from a $1,500 incentive for emergency heat pump water installations.

Electrify Marin: Homeowners can apply for rebates for induction cooktops and ranges, heat pump water heaters, heat pumps, and service panel upgrades. 

Napa

  • Marin Clean Energy (MCE)
    • MCE customers can get bill credits for solar storage and excess solar energy and income-qualified customers can receive a free home energy assessment and upgrades through their Home Energy Savings program.
    • Contractors can benefit from a $1,500 incentive for emergency heat pump water installations.

San Francisco

CleanPowerSF customers can benefit from a contractor-applied $1,000 rebate for a heat pump water heater. Find a qualified contractor here.

San Mateo

Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) customers can apply for rebates for heat pump water heaters, heat pump HVACs, electric panel upgrades, and used hybrid or fully-electric vehicles. PCE also offers zero percent loans, up to $10,000, for energy upgrades.  

Santa Clara

  • Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) customers can get up to $8,750 in rebates for upgrading to new electric home appliances. Plus, additional rebates of $4,250 for income-qualified customers. Measures include heat pump water heater, heat pump HVAC, induction cooktop, prewiring & wiring, electrical infrastructure upgrade, induction cookware, prewiring EV charging circuit, and an all-electric bonus for gas meter removal. Get started with SVCE’s Go Electric Advisor.
  • Silicon Valley Power: City of Santa Clara residents can receive rebates for heat pump water heating, induction cooking, electric vehicles and e-bikes, heat pump clothes dryer, electric upgrades, battery storage, and more. 
  • City of Palo Alto residents can get rebates and expert help to directly install heat pump water heaters and rebates for electric vehicles. Residents are encouraged to get a free consultation from their Home Efficiency Genie program.

Solano

  • Marin Clean Energy (MCE)
    • MCE customers can get bill credits for solar storage and excess solar energy and income-qualified customers can receive a free home energy assessment and upgrades through their Home Energy Savings program.
    • Contractors can benefit from a $1,500 incentive for emergency heat pump water installations.

Sonoma

  • Sonoma Clean Power (SCP) customers can receive rebates for induction cooking (plus a free induction cookware set), heat pump heating and cooling systems, heat pump water heating, and heat recovery ventilators.
  • City of Healdsburg residents can apply for rebates for heat pump water heating, heat pump space heating, weatherization, laundry, heat pump water, induction appliances, and pool pumps. 
  • Energy Independence Program: The Sonoma County Energy Independence Program offers financing to property owners for energy efficiency, water efficiency and renewable energy improvements through a voluntary assessment. These assessments will be attached to the property, not the owner and will be paid back through the property tax system over time, making the program not only energy efficient but also affordable.
