How the Energy Code Treats Electrification

The 2019 and upcoming 2022 Energy Codes are supporting electrification as part of California’s work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Electric appliances such as heat pump water heaters, heat pump space conditioners, and induction cooktops are impacted by different aspects of the building code as well as planning and zoning. With increased incentives and reach codes driving toward electrification, the projects submitted for permits may vary from previous business as usual upgrades. This class will focus on the energy code and green building code.
