How long does it take for the BRRR program to contact me once I have submitted the Interest Form?
The BayREN Building Performance Advisor (BPA) will contact you within 2 business days after you submit the interest form. The BPA will review your information, explain the onboarding process, and provide the next steps to become a participating contractor.
Can I recruit customers now?
No, BRRR will not honor any project incentive submissions for projects installed before you become a participating contractor. Contractors must complete onboarding, submit licensing information, and submit insurance documents before recruiting or working with customers under the BRRR Program.
What is the process so I can start recruiting customers for BRRR?
- Submit the Contractor Interest Form.
- Complete onboarding and orientation with BRRR program staff.
- Provide required licensing and insurance documentation.
- Once approved, begin outreach and project work following BRRR guidelines.
- (Optional) Contractor’s information is added to the BRRR website.
- Enrollment is complete.
What are the licensing and insurance requirements to participate in BRRR?
- Maintain a current CA State Licensing Board (CSLB) license, as well as any other license required for the specific work they perform. Subcontractors must comply with the same licensing requirements.
- Carry CSLB-required insurance, workers’ compensation, and bonds.
- Carry required refrigerants-handling license
What is the contractual arrangement in BRRR?
The BRRR program helps food and floral sector businesses replace high global warming potential refrigerants with more environmentally friendly refrigerants and install energy-efficient equipment. BRRR is a separate, third-party offering intended to provide financial incentives directly to the refrigeration contractor to reduce equipment upgrade costs to businesses.
Contractors voluntarily participate in the BRRR program by completing onboarding and training, and submitting proof of current licenses and insurance. Contractors are responsible for holding the contract with any food or floral sector customer for the work to be completed at that business.
The BRRR program does not endorse, warrant, or guarantee the quality, performance, or conduct of any contractor, nor does it accept any liability or responsibility for:
- Cost overruns;
- Delays;
- Workmanship issues;
- Contract disputes;
- Breach of contract; or
- Any other damages or grievances arising from the contractor-customer relationship.
